You see, I grew up with dyslexia — and didn’t know it. Not until I was nearly 18. For all those years in school, I felt like I was constantly running uphill. I was articulate, I could talk the talk — but ask me to get my ideas down on paper? It was like hitting a brick wall. No matter how hard I worked — and I did work hard — the results just didn’t come. Instead of support, I got labels: Lazy. Disengaged. Underachiever. It was crushing.

Even at university, the support was limited — a bit of extra time in exams, a few print credits. But no one explained why those things mattered, or how to actually use them to level the playing field. I wasn’t taught how my brain worked — I was just left to figure it out alone.

And then it happened all over again — but this time, it was my son.

He reminded me so much of myself. Bright, articulate, curious. But when it came to reading and writing, the struggle was obvious. I raised concerns from as early as Reception. Key Stage 1 came and went, and still the same response: “He’ll catch up… it’s Covid gaps… he’s just a bit behind.”

But deep down, I knew. I trusted my instincts. And after five long years, we finally got the diagnosis: dyslexia.

Now, like me, he’s learned to find clever workarounds. But just like me, he has to work at least twice as hard as his peers — often for half the recognition.

So I decided — enough is enough.

That’s why I created this training module.

Because the truth is:
💡 Dyslexia affects around 10% of people in the UK — that’s over 6 million people.
💡 It’s not a learning disability, it’s a learning difference.
💡 Dyslexic brains are wired for creativity, for problem-solving, for big-picture thinking.
But too often, these strengths are overshadowed by misunderstandings and missed opportunities.

This module is here to change that.

We’ll share strategies that work — like multisensory teaching, structured literacy programmes, and how to build confidence alongside skill. We’ll also talk about technology — the brilliant tools that can turn barriers into bridges.

But beyond that, we’ll talk about mindset.

Because support isn’t just about apps and flashcards. It’s about listening. It’s about understanding that just because a child doesn’t learn the “traditional” way, doesn’t mean they can’t thrive. It’s about seeing the potential — even when it’s hidden behind spelling errors and slow reading.

I created this because no child should be made to feel broken for being different.
And no parent should have to fight for five years just to be heard.

We can do better.
And with this training, we will.
